If you’re looking to elevate your acting abilities, this is a great opportunity to develop a well-rounded skillset.
This specialized class takes a comprehensive approach, covering essential aspects of acting such as energy, creativity, movement, improvisation, cold reading, memorization, audition techniques, voice, speech, film techniques, and performance. It truly aims to create a “full circuit” for your acting development.
Just as a full circuit in science requires an unbroken flow of energy, acting thrives on a continuous connection between performers that captivates the audience. This class is designed to strengthen that flow by exploring a variety of crucial skills.
Here’s a glimpse into what each class will cover:
**Class One:** We’ll begin each session with warm-ups focusing on breathing, physical movement, voice and speech exercises, and imagery. Following this, we’ll dive into cold reading techniques specifically for multi-camera comedy. We’ll work on understanding tone, timing, relationships, and delivery – skills essential for the many popular multi-camera shows on major networks and streaming platforms.
**Class Two:** After a similar warm-up with a slight variation, we’ll shift our focus to single-camera dramedy material. This session will highlight the subtle yet important differences in tone, style, delivery, and overall performance compared to multi-camera work. Developing the ability to adapt your tone is key to becoming a versatile actor.
**Class Three:** Following our warm-up and some new exercises, this class will concentrate on dramatic material. We’ll use cold reading to interpret conflict and relationships in scenes from TV and film, emphasizing strong character choices. We will also explore how actors can connect with and utilize their own emotions in their performances.
**Class Four:** We’ll start with a warm-up to prepare for the performance. For this class, you’ll have the opportunity to select and memorize one scene from the previous three classes. You’ll then perform this scene on camera as if you were on a working set, receiving (or self-) direction. This session will focus on understanding camera work and the concentration required for consistent on-set performance. You’re also welcome to record yourself simultaneously at home to further analyze your work.
